Material ConneXion  and Li Edelkoort to Present LEFT/BRAIN/RIGHT
Conversations on the Greening of Architecture and Design During ICFF

Dr. Andrew H. Dent to present “2010: The Future of Sustainable Materials”
& Li Edelkoort to present “Greening Perspectives for 2010

New York, NY, April 2008 – Material ConneXion and Li Edelkoort are teaming up to present two unique perspectives on the greening of architecture and design at LEFT/BRAIN/RIGHT during ICFF. The two talks—2010 – The Future of Sustainable Materials and Greening Perspectives for 2010—will be held on Monday, May 19th, from 2:00 – 4:00 pm, at the Tishman Auditorium, 66 West 12th Street, New York, NY.

In 2010 – The Future of Sustainable Materials, Dr. Andrew Dent, Vice President, Materials and Library Research, Material ConneXion, will discuss the sustainable materials and technologies that are transforming design today, and the future opportunities that will redefine our built environment. As we hurtle towards the end of the first decade of the 21st Century, one realization is clear – 20th Century industrial production methods are not compatible with sustaining life on this planet.  Dent’s talk will elaborate on finding ways through this crisis – materially speaking – that involve a wholesale reconsideration of what we make, how we make it, and what we do with it at the end of its life.  Knowledge of new materials, their comparison to existing solutions, and targeting game changing breakthroughs in the near future are all essential to being a part of this next industrial revolution.

In Greening Perspectives for 2010, renowned trend forecaster and lifestyle expert Li Edelkoort will present a discussion on the new bridges between Lifestyles and Architecture in the context of Green. Through her perceptive analysis of modern life, Edelkoort will illustrate how greening has emerged as a state of mind, a deepening and widening philosophy for living that is chipping away at the prevalence of fast-food architecture, collapsing the divide between rural and urban, and encouraging slowness and reflection in the consumption of the environment.  Green is more than the new black.  It is the window into our souls and the blueprint for our future.  Never before has our choice of materials, colors, lighting and structural configurations said so much about who we are, and where we are heading as a society.

Tickets are $300 / $30 for Students
There will be a 20 minute break between talks and refreshments will be served
