Material ConneXion to present at Habitare, Finland's largest furniture & design fair,
from September 1-5, 2010

New York, NY, September 2010 – New York-based global materials library and consultancy Material ConneXion will present an exhibition highlighting the latest advancements in materials innovation at Habitare, Finland’s largest furniture and interior design fair. The interactive display, located at stand #5d5 in the fair’s Ahead! section in Hall 5, will be on view from September 1-5 at the Helsinki Convention Center.
The exhibition will be complemented by a presentation by Material ConneXion’s Founder & CEO, George M. Beylerian, entitled “Materials Matter: How Materials Are Driving Design Today,” to take place in the Habitare Foorumi (Forum) on Wednesday, September 1 at 3:30pm
For its first-ever showing at Habitare, Material ConneXion will present an exhibition showcasing selections from the company’s Materials Library, with over 5,000 materials, the world’s largest resource for advanced materials and processes. The pop-up Materials Library will educate and inspire visitors with over 100 new materials that illustrate 10 essential concepts driving materials innovation today: Biomimicry, Oil Resistant & Oil Loving Materials, Foams, Cushioning, Surface Customization, Toxin Absorbing Materials, Transparency, Faux Stone Surfaces, Concrete, and Color through Structure. These topics, identified by Material ConneXion’s international team of PhD scientists and material specialists, were first introduced in the company’s newly launched materials box, ActiveMATTER™. Issued quarterly, the box is available to individuals, corporations and schools through a yearly subscription, and will be on sale at the fair.

Beylerian will speak on the first day of the fair on the topic “Materials Matter: How Materials Are Driving Design Today.” Using examples ranging from architecture and interior design to furniture, fashion and automotive design, Beylerian will show how now, more than ever, forward-thinking designers understand that the key to innovation lies with the right material choices.
