The informative and inspirational display, located in Booth #1348, will serve as the gateway to Materials Matter™, a special ICFF exhibit showcasing new products by material manufacturers working at the forefront of innovation.
Material ConneXion will also feature prominently in “ICFF Talks”—the fair’s program of design-related lectures, seminars and panel discussions. To kick off the series, Dr. Andrew H. Announced in early 2011, the award recognizes the most advanced materials and processes inducted into Material ConneXion’s Materials Library in 2010. This year’s winner, Novacem’s Carbon Negative Cement—a revolutionary material that reduces carbon emissions in the cement industry—will be presented alongside a group of four honorees which includes Lumysis, a flexible transparent LED signboard that demonstrates a pioneering use of carbon nanotube technology, and Saratech Permasorb Wallpaper, an air-purifying wall covering that offers an ingenious solution for combatting air pollution in contaminated buildings.
In addition, the company will present more than 60 cutting-edge materials from its library, allowing ICFF attendees to see, touch and interact with the latest material advancements across a wide range of disciplines and industries.
The exhibition will also mark the US release of Materials Matter V—the fifth installment in Material ConneXion’s annual survey of new materials. The latest volume, which debuted at the Salone Internazionale del Mobile in April 2011, includes images, technical descriptions and sourcing information for close to100 innovative materials.
Material ConneXion’s New York City headquarters will be open to the public during ICFF, giving guests free access to explore its Materials Library. Visitors to Material ConneXion will also have an opportunity see Lucite’s 75th Anniversary Exhibition, which is on view in the company’s showroom through June 10. The exhibition presents the winning prototypes from Lucite’s Carry Me! handbag design competition, judged by jewelry designer Alexis Bittar, along with a series of current product applications that demonstrate the versatility of Lucite.
