The bioLITH™ Tile by bioMASON

The biocement™ that releases zero CO2 emissions

These thin masonry biocement™ tiles are a biologically-derived, carbon-neutral alternative to traditional cement. The proprietary technology uses non-pathogenic microorganisms to grow biocement™ building materials, eliminating the need for firing and ultimately reducing CO2 emissions. bioLITH™ tiles are made of 85% pre-consumer recycled natural aggregates and 15% calcium carbonate and are formed by vibratory compaction in a semi-dry mix, reaching their full strength in less than three days.

Each year more than 4 billion tons of cement are produced accounting for approx 8% of all carbon emissions. Grown in ambient temperatures using a zero-carbon emissions process, bioLITH™ tiles have the same strength as traditional cement but release no waste during manufacturing, therefore, reducing energy cost. Nutrients and minerals required in the process are obtained locally from natural, renewable sources.

Options & Applications

bioMASON tiles are available in natural and medium grey colors in 3 finishes: Smoothed, Honed, and Polished. Custom colors, variegation, decorative inserts, surface aggregate treatments, textures, and finishes are available on a minimum-order basis. Applications are for vertical facing assemblies, installed on a support wall with adhesive systems; use in horizontal conditions on a custom basis for both exterior and interior use.
