Glasses-Free 3D Transforms 2-D Photos into 3D Holographs
Holographic effects are typically achieved using a special lens or foil that is placed on top of a photo. This printing technology by LUMMI introduces a new optics algorithm that allows for full color 3D holographic effects, capable of full horizontal and vertical parallax, to be printed using a commercially available inkjet printer. 3D parallax movement refers to a 3D effect that can be viewed from any angle.
Instead of using special optics that are costly and have limited resolution, this technology uses algorithms to turn a 3D model from programs like AutoCAD into a special pattern. Applications include product security, medical diagnostics, media and advertisement, augmented reality, and packaging.
