Material Insight: The Breath® by Anemotech

The low-impact, energy-free system that doesn’t need any electrical or fossil energy to purify the air

The Breath® is an innovative fabric solution that is both efficient and ecological. It adsorbs and disaggregates toxic polluting molecules from indoor and outdoor environments. This ‘three-layered system’ is comprised of 2 printable layers of zinc and silver activated polyester, and a single layer of carbon mesh, where all 3 layers work in synergy to guarantee a 360° cleaning action. The Breath® can be used in small rooms as well as large venues.

The air passes through the mesh fabric, where the activated nano-molecules in the core layer trap and retain the polluting molecules such as VOC, IPA, NOx, SOx, and ozone in its fibers. Its use in a small area continuously lowers the bacterial concentration in the air that comes in contact with the fibers. The system does not only cover or reduce smells: it absorbs them, thereby eliminating any unpleasant emissions while also providing sound-absorption. The cleaner air then continues its natural circulation. This low-impact, energy-free system doesn’t need any electrical or fossil energy to purify the air.

The Breath® Applications

The material is sold in the form of rolls (1.5 m x 80 m, 59.06 in x 87.5 yd) with 4-5 mm (0.16- 0.2 in) thickness or in the form of a painting. It is possible to print on both the front and back layers using water-based inks with an option to customize the size and printed graphics. Applications are for indoor paintings or office furniture for residential, hotels, and schools as well as for billboards, placards, and architectural projects.
