This new technology, EcoCore® was developed by Bockatech to produce injection-molded packaging with polypropylene skin-foam-skin walls almost instantly.
It is used for reusable as well as recyclable single-use containers that are low-cost, lightweight, insulated, strong and super durable.
This material was recently added to our library and is on trend with what we have been seeing in the packaging industry towards lightweighting products.
Lightweighting reduces the overall amount of material used which has increasingly become a part of many companies’ sustainability strategy. It also saves money while decreasing the amount of fuel and greenhouse gases used in the distribution of products. Lighter goods weigh less which means they take less fuel to transport.
The technology’s unique combination of features makes it ideal for new environmentally friendly packaging. Reusable to-go cups made with this technology cost the same as paper single-use alternatives but cut greenhouse gases by 20-30% after just two uses. Single use hot-food containers can also be made with this technology reduce both greenhouse gases and material use by up to 30% and can be easily recycled at the end of life.
As we continue to see brands shift their focus on more environmentally friendly packaging solutions, materials like this one are great for applications in food and beverage – such as low-cost reusables or easy to recycle single use packaging, industrial use like tubs and paint containers and healthcare for medicine.
