What happens when an off-the-shelf material solution isn’t the ideal? We innovate, of course.
Here, Dr. Andrew Dent gives us a glimpse at the highly customized solutions some of our clients are looking for. When a material or technology doesn’t exist or isn’t known, Material ConneXion knows how to make
magic innovation happen.
There are a number of sports apparel materials, but our client – a US sportswear brand, wanted an alternative for their garments. The goal? Better moisture control without loss of comfort.
Our material scientists explored raw materials and found a fiber that, when partnered with specific spinning methods, achieved the desired outcome. The result? A material that adapts to changes in temperature and moisture without compromising softness or performance of the fabric.
Here are some other moisture-wicking materials…
Drirelease GEO Cool by drirelease (an Optimer Brands company) // MC 5282-02
Performance fabrics embedded with an active particle technology that enables in-built moisture management through effective wicking and fast drying, resulting in a long-lasting cooling effect. It is designed for 100% filament PET, recycled PET fabrics, and PET/spandex blends.
OSM Shield by OSM Shield, LLC // MC 1047301
A technology platform of high-performance fabric finishes that are plant-based. The PFOA-free (perfluorooctanoic acid) and PFOS-free (perfluorooctanesulfonic acid) formulations deliver superior moisture repellency, stain resistance, stain release, oil resistance, odor resistance, wicking, faster drying time, colorfastness to crocking, abrasion resistance, and more.
